Cabinet Painting Company In Napa & Surrounding Areas

New cabinets can cost as much as a small remodel. Refinishing the ones you already have can give you a fresh kitchen for a fraction of that. The catch is that cabinet painting is easy to do badly.

Brush marks, chips, and peeling are common when the work is rushed or sprayed on site. Napco Painting and Fine Finish Shop finishes cabinets in a dedicated shop, where we control the conditions and spray a smooth, durable coat.

Rooted Here Since 1997

We’ve been painting homes, wineries, and businesses across Napa Valley and Sonoma for nearly 30 years. Our reputation was built one project at a time, right here in the community we call home

Screened, Long-Tenured Crew

The people on your property matter as much as the paint on your walls. Every Napco painter is screened before joining our crew, and many have been with us for 20 to 30 years. That kind of tenure means a team that knows our standards, takes pride in the details, and treats your home like their own.

In-House Fine Finish Shop

From cabinets and furniture to Roman Clay and limewash, our in-house Fine Finish Shop brings a level of craftsmanship most painting companies can’t offer.

Why We Finish Your Cabinets in Our Shop

Full-service Cabinet painting

Most cabinet finish problems trace back to where the work happens. Spraying cabinets inside a lived-in kitchen means dust in the air, poor airflow, and debris that can settle into a wet coat. We do it differently.

We remove your doors, drawers, and hardware, label every piece, and bring them to our shop. In that controlled environment, we sand, seal, and spray without dust or interruption. The result is a smoother, more durable finish than on-site work can deliver.

Refinishing works with the cabinet boxes you already have, so you get a fresh kitchen for a fraction of the cost of replacement.

If your boxes are solid and the layout works, there is no need to tear them out. We refinish what you have.

From solid painted colors to stained wood tones, you can take your cabinets in almost any direction. We help you choose.

A refreshed kitchen is one of the first things buyers and guests notice. Refinished cabinets update the look of the room without a full remodel.

Paint-Grade and Stain-Grade Finishes

Cabinets can take two very different finishes. Paint-grade gives you a solid, opaque color that hides the wood grain, sprayed to a glass-smooth surface.

Stain-grade keeps the natural wood grain visible under a clear or tinted finish, sealed and coated with lacquer for depth and durability. We assess your cabinets and existing finish, then walk you through which path fits before any work begins.

Our Cabinet Painting Process

Get to know more about our cabinet painting process below:

  1. Assessment and prep. We evaluate the substrate, the existing finish, and any repairs needed.
  2. Removal and labeling. We remove doors, drawers, and hardware, label each piece, and transport them to our shop.
  3. Cleaning and deglossing. We clean and scuff-sand every surface to promote adhesion.
  4. Repairs and fill. We fill dents, dings, and open grain so the finish does not telegraph imperfections.
  5. Seal or prime. Paint-grade gets a bonding primer. Stain-grade gets a vinyl sealer. Both are sanded smooth.
  6. Finish coats. We spray finish coats and sand between them for a glass-smooth surface.
  7. Quality check and reinstall. We inspect each piece, then rehang doors and drawers and reinstall hardware.

The Coatings We Spray on Cabinets

Cabinets take more daily wear than walls, so they need coatings made for it. We do not use standard wall paint on cabinets. For paint-grade work, we spray Sherwin-Williams Emerald Urethane and Gallery, and Benjamin Moore Command and Scuff X.

For stain-grade work, we use a vinyl sealer and Gemini lacquer. These products cure hard and resist chips, scuffs, and daily use far better than ordinary paint.

Cabinet Painting FAQs

In most cases, yes, and often by a wide margin. New cabinets involve demolition, materials, and installation, while refinishing works with the boxes you already have.

If your cabinet boxes are solid and the layout works, refinishing gives you a fresh look for far less. During your estimate, we give you an honest answer, not a hard sell.

Not when they are prepped and coated correctly. The reason cabinets chip is usually poor prep or the wrong product, not the fact that they were painted.

We clean, degloss, repair, and prime every surface, then spray coatings made for cabinets that cure hard.

Both, in a sense. The doors, drawers, and hardware come off and go to our shop, while the cabinet boxes stay in place and are finished on site.

Shop finishing gives the removable pieces a cleaner, dust-free coat. We label every piece so it goes back where it belongs.

Your cabinet boxes stay in place, so you keep access for most of the project. The doors and drawers are off-site in our shop while they are finished, which is the longest stretch. We give you a clear timeline up front.

We refinish more than kitchens. Bathroom vanities, built-ins, and other cabinetry can go through the same shop process.

If it is cabinetry or millwork that would benefit from a smooth, durable finish, bring it up during your walkthrough.
